Managed Care & Rehabilitation
Deborah Krotenberg
Division Director
Welcome to the Managed Care and Rehabilitation Division's section of the State Board of Workers' Compensation Web Page. This section of the page is designed to be a source of information and help to all those with an interest in rehabilitation and managed care. Below are listed several items that are excellent sources to increase your knowledge and understanding of the services regulated by the Division.
For Managed Care, the certified and applying organizations along with the counties that they cover are listed. (See, Geographic Service Areas - Certified WC/MCOs and Certified WC/MCOs). There is a job description of the certified MCO's case manager. This describes the role and job duties that are typical of a certified MCO's case manager. Every quarter, each WC/MCO is required to report current information to the Board. This information is compiled into a Master Quarterly Report and distributed to the WC/MCO’sThere is a list of telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for the staff of the Managed Care and Rehabilitation Division should you have questions (see, Managed Care & Rehabilitation Division Personnel Telephone Numbers & E-Mail Addresses). Check out the FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) section, for questions that relate to Managed Care. Perhaps someone has already posed your question and the answer is right there!
For those interested in Rehabilitation, the Board's required rehabilitation forms are found on our Web Page's main menu under SBWC Forms. You may print them out; however, if you download the forms into your computer, you may not be able to use them. A listing of the counties covered by each of the Board's Rehabilitation Coordinators is provided (See County Rehabilitation Coordinator List). The county listed by each coordinator's initials pertains to the employee's county of injury. The Board's rehabilitation coordinators review all catastrophic injury rehabilitation plans and reports submitted by the registered catastrophic supplier. They can assist any party to the claim with information and clarification of rehabilitation issues. The coordinators also schedule rehabilitation conferences with all parties. This not only applies to catastrophic cases, but also to voluntary rehabilitation cases, if requested by the parties. The Rehabilitation Coordinators review plans and reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Please refer to the item below entitled: Guide to Perfecting Your WC-R1CATEE. Check out the FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) section, for questions that relate to Rehabilitation. Perhaps someone has already posed your question and the answer is right there!
For registration, all rehabilitation suppliers must file a renewal form annually. Renewal on-line may be done using a major credit card beginning October 1st.
Each registered supplier/case manager is responsible to know the current Rules and Regulations that govern their activity under Georgia's Workers' Compensation Act. The Rules and Regulations are updated annually in July. O.C.G.A. §§34-9-200.1 and 34-9-208 and Board Rules 200.1 and 208 are the relevant sections for rehabilitation suppliers and case managers. Each supplier should also maintain knowledge of the Board's yearly Procedure Manual, Chapter 7, which summarizes the current rules and regulations. If you have any questions on initially becoming a Board registered rehabilitation supplier or on registration renewals, please call Yvonne Watkins at 404-656-0849.
Below you will find a reference to the Supplier List. This is a current list of all the registered rehabilitation suppliers. A list of registered rehabilitation suppliers is available through the Board's copy unit at (404) 656-3875.
If you have other questions you would like to see added to FAQ's, please e-mail them to Deborah Krotenberg at krotenbergd@sbwc.ga.gov.
