Alternative Dispute Resolution
Judge David Imahara
Division Director
The ADR section's goal is to provide the workers' compensation system with an expeditious and efficient alternative to litigation for the resolution of disputes. To this end, by filing a Form WC-100 or Form WC-14, any party to a claim may request a mediation to resolve their disputes. Most mediations conducted at the Board involve settlement mediations.
The ADR section currently has 7 full time mediators and 2 administrative law judges conducting mediations daily in Atlanta and in 17 locations across the State of Georgia. In 2007, the ADR section set approximately 8000 mediations and conducted approximately 4000 mediations, resolving successfully over 90%.
The ADR section also handles motions, attorney fee contract approvals-via Form WC-108(a), and other requests. In 2007, the ADR section issued over 1500 orders, averaging approximately 20 days from receipt of a motion to issuance of an order.
